So You Want To Send Money Do You?

Well you better be prepared to venture through all sorts of verification procedures, identification issues and to also pay for the priviedge... even then you may still stumble across an issue that prevents your transfer from being complete. Whilst the vast majority of transactions will go through fine however here's a few minor situations that have been stumbled across and which we thought you should be made aware of:

Sender was refused an online money transfer because they were only allowed a maximum of three money transfers within any thirty day time period, despite obviously having all the correct security information to go into their account. It seems a little strange that that there should be such a limit bearing in mind all the apparent safegaurds that we are told about... or are they not as confident in them as we are led to believe.

Sender attempting to send money via the telephone but was refused because they were not calling from the landline address that the card was registered to. This is despite using the service many times and previously also from the very same landline with the exact same card.

"It was just so frustrating, my internet was down and I needed to send the money there and then. There had never been a problem with my cards being registered to another landline/address before but for some reason that day they picked up on it and refused flat.. despite them having records on their very own system that I had done this exact same thing previously."

Another gentleman contacted us to tell us of a time recently that he tried to send money from a transfer agent in Bangkok. Despite having the cash and his own passport with him the cashier refused to send the money saying that they needed to see the passport of the person they were sending it to! The cashier unwilling to see the reasoning of it being impossible for the recipient to have to show there passport at the senders end uttered a typical Thai phrase 'Mai pen rai' roughly translating as 'never mind' and then proceeded to completely ignore him thereafter. No the money did not get sent on this occassion.

Another problem recently reported to us was that of someone wishing to send money via the telephone. They had set-up their account previously and whilst the transfer agent was going through the usual security list, they asked the sender: 'What is your secret question and answer?'. Now having assumed that they would be asked the question only, they sensibly had the answer written down however they couldn't for the life of them remember what the actual question was. The agent refused to send the money despite the caller argueing that there was little point in having a memorable question and answer if the question itself was never going to be asked, indeed there was no point. In fact the question and the answer in this scenario therefore were in actuality a single password.
